Are you saying you formatted the DVD blank disc prior to starting ImgBurn? Just burn the ISO using either ImgBurn or Nero software and 4.37GB ISO should fit when you burn the ISO.
downloaded new super mario, file size is 4.38 as iso. im using TDK DVD-R 4.7GB.
for some reason i popped in the dvd and formatted. went from 4.7 to 4.37. now i cannot fit the 4.38 file and it says i need 320kb more space. what should i do?
thanks, this is working now.
question: which speed is best? faster is faster but is quality poorer? im writing at 2.1x for some reason even thoguh my dvd-r is 1-16x. how can i bump up the speed?
The slower the better.
I burn mine at 1x most of the time but i have burned them at 2.4x and been fine.
The optimal balance between speed and quality burn seems to be to burn at 4X and if that fails to read then if possible to set 2.4X or 2X. There are several windows to set the burn rate, disc spin speed etc.
Burning at 1X seems to allow for some artifacts-it's OK for older burners and lower rated discs though. It is always worth a try moving from 4X to 2X to 1X before switching to a USB HDD.
thanksm, didnt realize write speed would affect quality THAT much since back in the CD days i never had problems with going at 12x.
how long is it taking you at 1 and 2x?
ok so it finished, i tried it, didnt work. what did i do wrong?
i plopped the dvd-r into the wii, went to neogamma, loaded the game from the dvd drive and then it got the game-id. however, the screen switched to a fuzzy black with a streaking horizontal fuzzy white line, then restarted the wii.

yea i'll try the usbloading later though as i still need to adjust some things in my external.
how would i go about getting the burning to work? i've already done it at a slow speed (2.1) and i am using a TDK DVD-R. should have been fine!
I'm not sure what you mean by format.. but did you let windows format it so you can drag/drop? If so, I don't think you can burn as .iso to that disc now. So you'd need a new disc, burn at 4x.
As an aside, there's been major issues playing NSMB.Wii with discs, so my guess would be that's the problem, you probably need to patch the .iso first, or if you have an SD card you're probably better off playing through that.

yes, i ended up using a new disc. that first disc is a dead disc isnt it? darn.
as for tonight i just want to test out my neogamma to see if i can successfully play a backup without using a usb loader. any small-sized game i can try?
