    need firmware 4.1 please.

hi everyone im really new to this, i got a wii and got it chipped with drivekey and it ran backups perfect. it even played nsmb then i played need for speed nitro and it updated my wii and now when i put in nsmb the wii crashed with error and to reset my wii, i checked the firmware and its on 3.4E. i beleive need for speed updated it of the disc to 3.4E.

ive been informed by my chip supplyier to install firmware 4.1 but the only game he knows of with it is wii sports resort.

i do not have homebrew or any softmods apps i dont even have a SD card, or know what to do.

does someone have a way for me to get ahold of a disc that will update my firmware to 4.1 or can i get it updated via usb.

my wii does not go on the internet and i wont put it on the internet as i dont want to risk it gettingthe 4.2 firmware and frying my drivekeys regeion free.

    thanks

If you disconnect connect24 and say no to the prompt to update your system right when you connect to the internet you'll be ok internet wise. SD cards do not cost that much, I recommend you get one (2GB for $8.) After that you can softmod your wii and update to 4.1 using the tutorial by dogeggs. Many people who have chips usually end up softmodding also. Hope this helps!

Thats the only option you got. As stated before, SD cards are uber cheap. Recommend a SanDisk 2gb card non-SDHC [they have the best compatibility for the mods you will be doing]. Softmodding plays very nicely with Hardmodded console, and is actually the best way to keep your IOSs up to date, as newer games will require different IOSs that normally the disc or a system update will give you.

i got a few cards laying around from a digital camera would they work?

also how do i use a sd card in my pc (stupid newb question i know)

i do have a card reader to usb plug and i guess ill use that.

so now i guess i goto go collecting guides and files.

fark it will take hours searching this forum to get all the guides n files i need
unless someone would like to point me in the correct direction for them all.

Using a USB card reader will be fine, just make sure that it is a non-SDHC card. Also make sure WiiConnect24 is OFF, as having this on will mess with the bannerbomb exploit. Also make sure any gamecube controllers or memory cards are taken out of the console prior to modding.

If you look at my sig [the area below this post] i have links for guides that you need [the 3.1-4.1 Softmod Guide]. Please make sure you read it till your eyes bleed and you feel comfortable enough in doing this, as any mistake could lead to a possible brick. The files that you will need are right in with the guides, they include all the files you will need to accomplish the task.

yeah thanks i am going through them all now just chasing up my sd cards and card reader.

about the bricking thing, i guess i could still brick it even thou my modchip has a brick blocker in it.

edit: must be lucky cause i have found a sandisk 2gb card

I beleive that the brick blocker protection is mostly for when you play a store bought game and it tries to do an update through the disc. That option just keeps the update from happening [although i'm not 100% on this as i never hardmodded a Wii, why pay for something when it can be done for free ].

it did not stop the update my wii received when playing need for speed nitro.

but anyhow i will get onto these guides now and report back how it goes.
