Total newbie about to hack a 3.4e

I have read the " New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii" article half a dozen times...
It seems pretty complex.. But what the hell...
    I have a 3.4e version

Do I have it right, that I need to install 4.1 at the end of the installation to block some games updating the system to 4.2???

Is there any further advice from anyone re hacking the 3.4e specifically???

    tia

    Thanks for the quick replies.

My mate does the zelda hack... Is this just another way of loading the homebrew channel??
Is the end result any different?
I am not sure whether to let my mate do the zelda hack or just have a go myself!

Hi thanks for all of the replies...
    Final question..

Section 2 of the "New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii" guide says....

"b) Use the power/reset/eject buttons to navigate the Bootmii menu and select the icon with the gears on it. If those buttons don't work then you will have to use a Gamecube controller"

If I cant navigate with the buttons and dont have a gamecube controller. Should I go no further until I can back the nand up, i.e. buy a gamecube controller...???

you can do it all without a nand backup, BUT a nand backup will save you from a brick if anything goes wrong. So its really up to you. To be safe, wait for a GC contoller. But you CAN carry on, but just remember you dont have the protection if anything goes seriously wrong.
