here are two links that will explain everything to you
I'd like to start off saying that I appreciate the work the forum does. My wife purchased a wii last week, so I've been on the "scene" for about that long.
One of the last pieces of the puzzle that I'm trying to put together for myself is a slightly deeper understanding of cIOS version compatability with games. I realize that some cIOSs work better with certain games than others. My question is, when you install multiple cIOS versions, are all versions available going forward, or are you only able to use the most recently installed.
Also, if you are able to use all installed versions, is there a way to switch back and forth to increase game compatability through a disc loader. I believe I've seen someone ask a simliar question regarding USB loaders, but I don't have a device with that much space.
As far as I know there are two cios, with many versions. Waninkoko's installs to 249 and Hermes installs to 222. If you install an updated version of either it will install over the previous version. Most people are using the newest version of Waninkoko's, and are very happy. In most cases you should not have any trouble with the newest versions of either. You can have 222 and 249 on your system and updated loaders will allow you to choose which to use.
Ipsa scientia potestas est.

any recommendations for a launcher (for discs) that would let me switch cIOSs? right now, i'm using neogamma r6 and r7. I installed r6 in an attempt to get Wii Sports Resort to work after reading the first 50 pages of a thread.
Wii Sports Resort needs an alt.dol [for the opening movie] to run properly on first run.
Yeah, not to get another thread open on this topic, but I did extract the dol and watch the wii movie, but I still had the green screen after that (after having disabled the alternate dol in r6), so my next thought was to check cIOS versions to compare. As a matter of fact, I'm still not sure how to check all versions installed.
