Angry Repairerer wrong??? Bricked DVD DRIVE

I bricked my wii installing wainakos 4.0. bad install. tried to uninstall reset wii....FULL BRICK. Black screen. no safety. nothing. dvd just spins. I was told by a repairer that I could replace the main motherboard, hence replace the nand chip. ie fixed wii!! yippeeee. I sent it to him. Now he says my dvd is also bricked and it cant be fixed. sounds like bs to me. Can't help but think he has done something iffy. perhaps taken working parts and replaced them with buisted ones etc. Can you brick a dvd drive? Does he mean the DVD motherboard. Can't get a response from him

sounds to me like you've been peeled, i'm pretty sure you can't hurt the dvd drive/chipset via softmods...i can't speak for your repair guy but as he is not responding then i'd say he is up to something...

And I thought I was just being cynical. Cheers buddy.
ps new motherboard should fix this brick?
If my wii does come back in one piece new m/board is $150 aud. Compares favourably to $390 for a new one

yes a new mb should fix it - if the guy has nicked your dvd drive and given you a dud it may come to quite a bit more $ - have you heard from him yet?

yeah! he's sending it back tomorrow. I should be able to figure out if he has flogged my dvd drive. He's had it for 2 weeks. Part of me thinks he didn't try to fix it. He reckons he was flat out. His whole story smells like dog eggs if you ask me! (No offence)!

i don't think with softmod you can do that much dammage to your wii, softmod is made so you wouldn't do the damage that hardmodding can do and most of the softmod packs available are made so you can't alter the important software settings on your wii, so i guess the guy didn't know what he was doing or is up to no good and just ripped you off
