virgin wii 4.0u needs soft modding advice
i have a virgin wii 4.0u.. i've read and read and read countless threads and starting to understand the process. so far, i have bannerbomb folder and boot.elf on the root of my sd card directory.
i've read about the NAND backup and preloader. i haven't been able to find the preloader online. which version will work with the wii 4.0u?
i wanna get all my ducks lined up before messing with the unit. please advise. thank you in advance
Look just follow this guide you don't have to update to 4.1 if you don't want to. But if you are going to install preloader you do have to install IOS60-patched.wad before you try and install preloader.

Yes it will, follow the guide that he gave you and after you finish it properly, download USB Loader GX and WBFS Manager which are both available in the guide.
hello i'm on the final step of soft modding the wii. i'm not clear on the instructions. i wanna get some advice before proceeding.
5. THE FINAL STEP
Preloader is also an optional install, if you don't want it just skip b & c, but you must do step d, system menu hacks can be taken care of by Starfall (3.2) or startpatch (4/4.1), if you want them click my sig and have a look through my mediafire. There are no system hacks for 3.3/3.4. There are now Preloader hacks for 4.1J Wiis.
a) If you are on system menu 4/4.1 use Wad Manager with default settings (IOS249 & SD card) to install IOS60-patched.wad - make sure you do this before you install Preloader. If you installed it in step 4 then skip this part. Never uninstall IOS60! You will brick!!
i want to install the preloader. i have the 4.0u.. i see the wad manager but not clear how to install the IOS60-patched.wad
can someone walk me through this phase?
where do you install the USB loader? on the ext hard drive or the SD card?
