    Restore NAND through bootmii

This is a just in case question.

I was wondering is the keys.bin file required when restoring your wii with the NAND.bin backup file?

As you probably know when you created your NAND backup it gave you 3 things..2 files (nand.bin and keys.bin )and a bootmii folder. Well silly me I only saved the bootmii folder and the nand.bin file. Is that keys.bin file required to do a restore? If so is there anything I can do to make one?

Also is it safe after completing dogeggs 3.1 - 4.1 guide to do another NAND backup?

    Thanks

Its safe to do another backup. If you have the bootmii folder with the three files in there. You will get into the bootmii menu and be able to do a backup. This time keep the keys file. It is required to restore.

thanks i was afraid I needed that file...so even thought my wii is softmodded already, I can still do the backup? What i mean is in the guide i followed by dogeggs, the backup was performed immediately after homebrew, dvdx, bootmii as boot2 install...before any softmods such as patched iso's etc.

Okay went ahead and backed it up AFTER softmods were installed...now is it possible to take the keys.bin file that was made on the AFTER modding backup and use it with the nand.bin that was made BEFORE the mods?

I really coudn't say for sure, seeing as you have a nand backup now, you could always try it. Its a good idea to check that the restore process works anyway. Its no good thinking you have a safe revovery system if for some reason it doesn't work.

I'm not sure why you want a backup of your bsystem that is not the latest, I backup mine after I have done any significant changes, and keep the previous nand. I wouldn't worry too much, you have a better backup system than most. Getting Preloader is worth while as well.
