Hi Baz, Welcome to the forum, the guide it's actually not that hard to follow, and I'm telling you this as a completely noob that I am, I followed the guide and I get stuck in maybe 2-3 steps for with the help of the members I made it, If you specify the steps you don't understand we could help you throughout it.

As for the SD card that's the one you need, I used a 4GB sandisk but a 2GB is good enough. just make sure you use the regular SD not the SDHC as the soft will not detect it.

Hello and welcome to the wiihacks community.

I know you are anxious to get started; but, there are a few items to cover before you post your questions or start doing anything to your Wii. If you intend to make software-based modifications of your Wii (softmod), including installation of the Homebrew Channel, DO NOT ACCEPT THE LATEST NINTENDO UPDATE. DO NOT UPDATE TO SYSTEM MENU VERSION 4.2.

Make sure you read the rules of this site. There are a number of tutorials and guides available to assist you. Make sure to either look through the tutorials or use the search function before asking questions. While the moderators, staff, and members of this community are willing to help you, some effort on your part to read, research, and follow the rules is expected. To get the best response to your question(s), post in the associated forum areas. This is very important as inappropriate posting could get you restricted to the reading room or even banned.

If this site and our members have provided substantive help, you can Donate to the forum and get a nice banner under your name and gain access to the donator forums.

Use the SanDisk 2GB SD as Tealc stated; it will be better for your softmodding. Do not follow a YouTube video for your softmod; often the videos contain outdated and even dangerous instructions because the video cannot accomodate changes in the Wii console and firmware. Enjoy your stay with us.

I have a 1gb, 2gb, 4gb and 2 x 16gb sandisk cards, the 4gb SDHC is hated by the wii for some reason, but all the others work! I always use the 2gb now for the wii, never had a problem.

    Smile Welcome...

Hello and welcome to the community.
Have a look around Ebay for your 2gb Sd card, i found it is the cheapest.

There are many guides around for you to follow, i would personaly recomend using the Twilight hack for a Newb. It is easy to follow.

For some features you may need to update the Rev though as with the Twilight hack it gives you Rev7. For some things like playing from USB you would need a minimum Rev9. There are many guides around for the things that ive mentioned.

*Please remember if i have been helpfull - Click the thanks button*
