WiiKey Region Free no more after 4.2 update

Ok updated to 4.2 other day without reading up on it first, yeah I'm a tool...

WiiKey 2 still plays Pal games (on my Pal Wii) but NTSC games that worked before the update now have disc errors in the disc channel.

So, 4.2 killed region free which I have since read.

But, is there a workaround? I need region free back for NTSC Wii games!

Yeah, 4.2 killed region free. The authors of startpatch 4.2.x.x, a preloader hacks.ini porters (including myself), haven't managed to crack it yet.

You could use Gecko OS, but if you want region free through the disc channel, you'll have to:

Use AnyTitle Deleter to delete the existing IOS249 (don't delete anything else!), as 4.2 kills it with a stub, then run the cIOS rev14 installer again, that way cIOS249 works again. Then install IOS60 v6174 first (NOT v6400, it's a useless stub), then System Menu 4.1E (0000000100000002 v450) using NUSD, and install using Wad Manager running under IOS249.

This will successfully downgrade you back to 4.1E, and your region free will work through the disc channel, just like it used to.

    Hope this helps.
