When I put in an official authentic Wii game it'll sound smooth but when I put in:
MicroNet DVD-R: it sounds like it's struggling to read it, badly
Sony DVD+R: sounds fine
TDK DVD-R: sounds kind of weird (a bit scratchy) but runs the game fine for the most part (noticed some stuttering and skipping)
This feels like a general question so I have general info, would any of these indicators damage my Wii in any way or are they just how the Wii runs it?
PS: The softmodding guide really helped for first timers like myself!

Your backup discs vary in the quality of the dye darkness. The sound probably correlates to the laser head mechanism moving around a lot trying to read the data. While you can currently get the laser to read, the wear and tear of excessive laser movement will degrade it more quickly and it will become increasingly difficult to read your discs as your laser mechanism loses calibration from banging around so much.
Experience has shown that, while in the short run many Wiis can read a variety of disc blanks, the most reliable over time and easiest on the laser are the Verbatim DVD-R.

Ah that helps a lot. Glad I asked before going any further, thanks!
