yes they work
I have a backed up copy of Super Smash Brawl and it works great in the normal arcade mode but if i try WFC it takes me to a room but doesnt find anyone to fight. Do backed up games work online?
yes they work
Yes they do work but maybe the iso you burnt was a scrubbed iso, what size was the iso? Brawl unlike other games is over 4GB

remember that loaders work better with unpatched isos that could be your problem
Hi, yeah the file is a scrubbed iso although im not sure what this means the image is 4,589,824 so i think that is right? It goes into the room online and i get the punch bag just no fighters.
Oh this is normal, it even happens to me on my original retail Brawl this is because of the lag or something like that, your better off playing with friends. If you'd like, you could enter the Wii Hacks Brawl tournament. There's the link under my signature.
Im not convinced as i have sat in the room with the punch bag for 10mins now Mario Kart WFC finds people straight away.
I've asked nintendo about this before long ago before i started wii modding. I made a post in there forums, i'll see if i can find it cause that's the only post i ever made there. Ok i found it:
Other than trying the troubleshooting tips on this page, there's not really much you can do about Brawl's terrible online.
Because of the frantic, unpredictability of brawls, SSBB has to slow down all players to the speed of the one who has the worst internet connection. This means severe lag and frequent disconnections even if you have a great or perfect internet connection. Also what kind of online play you wish to do can also weigh on people's internet connections.
With Friends: You play p2p (peer to peer), but speed is dependent on the one with the terrible internet connection.
With Anyone: You play on Nintendo's servers against people from all over the world. So in addition to the one with the terrible internet factor, the amount of traffic on Nintendo's servers can also weigh on your game play speed.
If you find you can't get any relief in your online play even if you have a great/perfect internet connection, then you may be out of luck and are going to have to invite local friends in your town/city over to your house for multiplayer play.
