Nothing on the Screen NOT EVEN a Black screen
I just installed some IOS to be able to play backed up games. I also downgrated to 3.3 from 4.0. Everything was working great and I could play the backed up games. But I rented Punch Out and it gave me a error and told me that I needed to update. So I did, it started then it when to a black screen for a while so I stupidy shut it off. Next when I went to turn it on nothing happen. The power light was on, disc can be put in and ejected out but no video or sound was on the TV. It just stayed on the AV screen. It acted like the AV cords weren't connected to the TV. Also my wii remmotes won't connect.
i have the same problem and i ask for help in another post. its 2 days now no one knows anything about it as no one reply to that post. so i booked it with nintando repair and hoping they wount check it, if they did then my bad luck. i also try the camecube conlroller method but nothing happen. i hope someone knows how to fix this problem if i found out i will let you know.
I had the same issue happen to me. Depending on which instructions you followed you might have bootmii installed in boot2. On my machine when this happened i could press the reset button when it was on and i would get video and would see the bootmii screen. This let me reinstall the interface. 4.0 in my case.
What did you use to reinstall the system menu 4.0? Were you on 4.0 or 3.4before the brick?

The (Wii No.1) that I was using was updated already to 4.0 (Pal Version) (And it has a Dc2 Pro Chip) and noticed that some of my copied games where having problems to load since I updated it. So I had a go and loaded the usb and now I'm using an external hard disk and everything is working fine.
As regards to the other Wii No.2 this also has a Dc2 Pro Chip but had a 3.2 Pal Version I updated it 4.0 and installed HB - preloader and other staff - when was ready switched it off and on everything worked. Then went to load a game and I was asked to update when I did that it switched off and never came up again. I just have a blank screen can switch the Wii off and on that is RED light to a GREEN light but not to standby and the remotes will not connect also.
A friend of mine said that this is bricked and he said that he read somewhere that this is done due to iso60 being removed or blocked - I dont know nothing about this this is what he said that he read.
Any help to fix this as I am not going to send it to ninteno becosue of the Chip.

Once you softmod never accept Nintendo updates whether they are internet or disc based. By softmodding you are changing the way your Wii fundamentally works and it's so easy for Nintendo to create their code so that it bricks your Wii.
Perhaps Nintendo should put a warning in their updates that if you have modifed your Wii in any way then it may cause them to stop working......oh wait it already does.
What you have is a low level brick, basically an unrecoverable one unless you have bootmii installed as boot2 or preloader and an intact ISO60.
Sorry to revive an old thread, but this is almost exactly what has just happened to me. I recently softmodded my Wii, and have just burned The Ashes Cricket 2009, which crashes when loaded from disc or USB. So I turned my modchip on (D2SUN 1.5) and stupidly said yes to the update. The update installed, and the screen went black. I left it for about a minute and pulled the power cord :-O
Now, when I start my Wii, I get no video, the fan spins up, the disc spins up, cannot sync controllers, disc ejects alright.
Tried the GC controller thing, to no avail.
I have no backup of my NAND, neither do I have Preloader or Booymii installed.
Time for a new Wii perhaps?
