How do I play movies on Wii through external hard drive?

OKAY. I've been working on this for about 5 days now, so I apologize if I sound repetitive.

I have partitioned my hard drive. Half to Wbfs or whatever it is for the wii, and half to NTFS. I put all of my games on the WBFS, and all of my music and movie files on the NTSC partition. When I attempt to load them on MPlayer, it will not read the movies or music. Is this because it will not read NTFS? I'm fairly positive this is the problem, however I don't know how to get these files over to the WBFS partition, as I can only load games on WBFS Manager to the WBFS partition. There has got to be a way to do this, can someone help me?

I've never messed with mplayer. Buut i'm pretty positive there's no wii apps that support NTFS.

Format that partition as FAT/32 and see if you dont get better results.

Ahh god I should have known that. That's what the problem was with hooking my hard drive up to my old PS3 as well.

    Thank you for reminding me.

You do FAT or FAT32? I only ask becuase I *was* pretty sure mplayer could read fat32. But with SDCards it's gotta be fat. So if you did fat32 and you got a few more minutes to kill, worth a try to use fat.

    You using mplayer-ce?

    mplayer-ce - Google Code

mplayer wont read ntsc, but it should read fat formats. I believe that geexbox will handle ntsc (saw it somewhere on the web). I am in the process of setting up my hdd with a chunk of it ntsc. I willreport back on my how it works. Also, mplayer wouldn't play any video files on a dvd for me before, whereas geexbox would, so i am hoping that it will work

Mplayer CE played xvid and divx from my 8GB usb stick (fat 32), and it played original DVDs for me but would not recognize my 1TB HDD NTFS format. Make sure you install the cIOS for the USB 2.0, I got all the stuff I needed at wiibrew.org/wiki/MPlayer_CE.

NTSC was recognized with Geexbox for me! Tested it on mplayer ce and nothing happened as expected
