IOS's and cIOS's
Can someone explain a bit more about what they do, someone said on here"The rev12 or rev13/b should cover you just fine. But some stuff, like wiiware, will not just want, but demand other stuff installed too. Which, if I recall correctly is 37, 53, and 55"
so is what he is saying that you can install as many IOS's as the same time and they will run along side each other fine?, I thought when you installed one you replaced the existing one but it seems this is the not case?
and is it true the more IOS's you have installed the less problems you should have with game?
and lastly is there a maximum number of IOS's you can install and where's the best place to get them.
I'm just trying to understand all this more so that I can use it best to it's full potential.
still a newbie but managed to get everything I have tried working, so I just need a better understanding of what these files are and what they do.
Thanks for all your help.

Just think of them as drivers like we have on our computers, just with silly numeric names instead.
The only thing I'm careful to do is never to delete or uninstall a cIOS or a IOS.
so i can install as many as I like, just don't uninstall any of them

I wouldn't install everyone you can find. Games tend to need just the ones you've already mentioned.
I only install an IOS or cIOS when it's a newer version or something doesn't work, but that's just me.
Yep! Just installing them as I need them here that's the best bet. Usually a new .wad comes out and it says "works well with ciIOSxx" so I get that and it's alll good.

The guy who said that is a complete idiot.
I'd give you a hundred more simply analogies. But - you can find a much more detailed list of ramblings about IOS/CIOS in
edit: quick cliff notes for you though:
1. Yes, you can install as many IOS's as you want alongside each other. They wont cause a problem. IOS's are official nintendo releases.
2. Theoretically, provided they are IOS and not cIOS. You'd have all your bases covered per say.
3. iirc, it's 250, but there aren't nearly that many out. Which is why hermes and waninkoko's install in the high 200's, I cover that in the other thread I linked as well though.

thanks had a good read at that, last question, where can I download all the IOS's up to the newest ones
I really wouldn't recommend it. Other than whatever you've got now, I'd recommend just 37, 38, 53, and 55. IIRC, 60, and 61 are for the Wii Shop channel, but I've never installed it so can't confirm that for you.
Dogegg's repository is the best around imo. I always grab the -FreetheBug releases. I can't tell you, sadly, exactly what the difference is, but I can testify for their validty.
If you have preloader installed, be careful installing the IOS 61. Do your homework before installing.
