    Backing up back ups?

    Hi,
Is it possible to back up a back up?
A friend of mine has backed up one of his originals then spilled paint on the original. When he puts his first back up in the PC, it doesn't read the disc, and says the disc is blank...???
Is this an error on his PC, as the disc is not blank, it works in his wii.
Sorry if this has been asked already, I looked through most of the 50-odd pages without finding anything similar.
    Cheers,
    UKM

yes you can- but only certain PC drives are capable of reading a wii disk, these are:

    Hitachi LG GDR-8161b (IDE)
    Hitachi LG GDR-8162b (IDE)
    Hitachi LG GDR-8163b (IDE)
    Hitachi LG GDR-8164b (IDE)
    Hitachi LG GDR-H10NBLK (SATA)
Hitachi LG GDR-8082N - USB SLIM Portable Drive

if you got / get one of these, full instructions here:
Wii Disc Backup - Nintendo-Scene Wiki

Alternatively, you can dump the disc to PC via wifi - never done this one myself but see here:

    good luck

    Thanks matey,

I kinda guess he has the right type of DVD drive as he can back his original's up? It can read the original, but NOT the backup....

I'm baffled, and so is he!!!

Reckon it's a fault on his DVD Drive?

    Thanks again,

I use Nero 7 premium and a Sony burner and can also make a copy of a backup using the COPY DVD function.

Yes. Just do a standard DVD Copy with any recording software. (Nero, ImgBurn, etc)
