Just installed the Drivekey, and happy as a puppy :D
Have to say I am very pleased with it. Installation could not be easier, never opened a wii before, but hey, that was also a piece of cake
I had only two different medias to test backups with, DAXON-AZ3-00 (DVD+r BENQ) and RITEKF1 (DVD-R Traxdata). I've read that DVD+r puts a strain on the wii's laser, and also that Ritek media should be good for backups.
But here is my problem; backups burned with the DVD+R's work just fine with dvd-rom booktype, but the Ritek DVD-R's does not work at all. just tells me to shut down and restart the wii.
BTW; Thanks for a real helpful forum
i use phillips -r never had a problem also verbatim -r use image burn at 2x a lot of problems can be down to bad media
Yeah, might be down to bad media, had many problems with the traxdata's when burning bootable dvd's (OS installation disks, bootable tools/utilities).

wellwell, i'll be heading out tomorrow to buy some higher quality dvd-r's, verbatim or so. might just pick up some more benq's just in case my writer is having problems with the other media
Is it true about the DVD+R's straining the wii's laser? concerned about that part.
i have over 100 wii games on +rs , had them over 8 months constantly played by my kids no probs yet, just thought i would change to -rs just in case .
I use taiyo yuden dvd-r master disks never had a problem I used LG dvd-r (when i was waiting for the taiyo disk) and they work but skip alot and some times wouldnt load I had to eject the disk put it in a few times till it would read properly.
Never had skips or had to eject a taiyo yuden disk and only cost me $20 more for 100 then a cheap lg disk so the cost is nothing for the quality you get!!!!
