im new to this whole game (i modded my xbox sometime back but did NOT know anything about the wii stuff going on!)
so i looked up my serial number on the wii drive chip database and i found the result to be:
* There is a 75% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C (v1).
* And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2R-D2A.
Now I was looking at the solderless wiikey 2 because I heard its the best to get, but there are two different models!:
-D2C / D2C2 / D2E
-DMS / D2B / D2A
which one should i get?
is there any way to know it without opening it and looking??
is there another chip i should maybe look at instead?

Who in their right mind would tell you the solderless is the best to get. Any solderless solution is always worse (unless maybe drivekey) but then even it has its down sides. Nothing beats a soldered install because a good job will never go bad where a clip could cause several issues (both on the install and down the road)
You would need a D2C there is no way it is either a D2C or D2A and just go with the D2C. But since you are willing to install the crappy clip why not just open the system one more time and look at the chip to make sure.
