WII too bright, HDD DOESNT WORK

My power adapter went out a while back on my wii and it has just set there for about 3 months without being touched. I finally got a new adapter and hooked everything back up. The system boots up but everything is EXTREMELY bright. to bright to read or see most things on the screen, and also the HDD no longer is recognized. it works when i plug it into my PC thought. I have double checked to make sure all my cables are hooked up tight, and that the HDD was pluged into usb port 0. even tried reconfiguring the loader to boot off port one and tried that - tried every combination of things i could think of - the light just keeps flashing on the HDD like it does when the wii is turned off. it is as if the wii is not "loading the drivers up" for lack of a better description . As for the unusually bright screen - it is almost white. It is not my T.V. Nothing else is doing this - just the wii. I checked the brightness and contrast controls and everything. that stuff was all normal - even tried lowering them as low as they would go, and made no difference. If it means anything to any one when I first load a screen up, the brightness appears normal for a split second then gets real bright and stays there. and the video is plugged directly into the T.V. with the RGB cables - no adapters or anything. If someone remotely has a clue what is going on here please let me know how to fix this. It worked fine the last time it was turned o. COuld what ever have fried my original power adapter have also messed up the video?

Did you try a different set of RGB wires?

A Short could have done this...Sounds more like a hardware problem , than a softmod.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Take it to a shop to see if they can repair it for you.
