It sounds like you don't have IOS 58 installed. Having tried GCN and Wii games from burned and USB backups, I can tell you USB is the faster method. If you're soft modded, post a SysCheck so we can see if the mod is current/done right. If you're hard modded you'll have to wait for someone with experience in hard mods to respond.

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

Either that is incomplete, or you are not softmodded at all.

See the Softmod Any Wii guide to mod your system to our current standards, then see FAT32 and Dios Mios (or Devolution) guides for how to start loading GameCube games from USB.

Be sure to get the hard drive formatted as FAT32 with 32k clusters. It is required for both methods.

Links to all guides mentioned are in my signature.

Following the directions will have you format the SD card at least three times. Each format will delete everything on it. So if you want to keep anything on that SD card, you will want to back it up and restore it later.

Dios Mios is not a stand alone Homebrew app so it won't appear in the HBC. You need WiiFlow, USB Loader CFG or USB Loader GX to use it. You can find the Dios Mios guide in Ilaffer's signature

i know that. but when i use wiiflow it crashes my wii (turns it completely off). i feel like i did the guide correctly, i got a disc in the drive and my memory card and a controller already plugged in. i found it to work once with a slight delay before a splash screen but thats it (tried 3 times). like i said i am using a 16gb sandisk cruzer usb
