Its the save file that Netflix creates that stores your login info, not the app itself, so your update should be fine. If you ever need your login info though just go to the Netflix website. Or are you using someone else's login, which required this question?

Besides, the Netflix website should certainly have some sort of "I've lost my password" link. As far as your softmod go, I've done the update with no problems whatsoever.

Curiously, I obtained a Wii with Netflix already installed. Wasn't mine and was a give-me. Never, ever had to enter credentials. I'm told unlike most devices, the Wii is registered with the website and the MAC address is the sole means of tying the console into the account. I personally cannot independently verify that (I have it on my PS3 and smart Blu Ray players - yes, a legitimate/paid account) on the Wii, however.

Would that mean that even if you go to data management and delete Netflix's save file, you're still unable to use a different account on it? That's something...

Iirc you would still have to sign in using your email and password first. Then they give you a code you have to punch in, I can't remember if you do it on the Wii or the Netflix website. But yeah, it does involve attaching the device itself to your account. You can also remove it from your account via the website. Been quite a few years since I messed with it, so the order of everything might be screwed up. Nighty's post brought back pieces of the memory of doing it lol
