Hello! Love the Forums!!
Hello all Forum experts!! Very Happy to finally be a member. I love forums because they are always a great place to search and learn. I am a senior member on some forums and a Noob on others but always say the same thing. "Search is your friend".. So Why am I here? I love my Wii for myself and the family. Been considering a MOD for years. Been doing some research on the best modchips for the unit which has a GC2-D2E chipset which I believe offers me a ton of MOD choices. I don't want to brick my unit so I'm doing a lot of reading on prevention. I want to buy my modchip from a good seller and hope to find that info here. Mainly wanting to use the MOD for back-ups as my kids destroy game discs that I pay good money for so I want to keep the originals locked up. I'm interested in learning more about soft mods but don't have an immediate desire to do that now. In closing, 1. Searching 2. Searching 3. Modchip (maybe Wiikey Fusion or D2Pro9) 4. Avoiding Bricks 5. Find a seller 6. Install the chip correctly and safely. 7. Look into possible soft mod.. Thanks for all you do here!!

The softmods are usually good enough to do anything that you'd want to do with it, you no longer really need a hard-mod anymore.
Our modding guide is the Softmod Any Wii guide, linked in my signature. After you've done so, and you have a system that is old enough to read backup media, you can use Neogamma that is included as part of chapter 3 to load the backup disks. Though we recommend USB loading. You don't have to worry about losing or breaking your backups. Just install the games to a hard drive and run everything from there.

Thanks for the info! I do have a system that's old enough for a killer Softmod. I have already started the reading and more reading on the docs u suggested. I am no idiot but kinda feel like one on the site. I tried going into the Hackmii and saw that it was down. I have also tried to DL the Wilbrand Launcher v8.0 but get stuck opening the launcher on a dll file that is clearly listed as part of the zip file.... I feel like I'm struggling way too much here. I know this just must be me because there are no threads explaining my problem. My apologies for posting a reply in the welcome section. I probably should have started a Noob thread...
