If you are like me and didn't like the size of the Nintendo Pro Controller (or the placement of the face buttons), give this one a try. Already down to $15 at Amazon, is a little smaller and has the face buttons and right stick switched (like 360).
For the cheap price, I'll give it a try. I thought I'd let you all know to in case you are interested.
Nyko products are usually pretty good. Not quite up there with MadKatz, but normally pretty decent.
I have had crappy controllers before, (like the classic controller shaped like a SNES that I bought from thinkgeek. I did return that because the controls were too "squishy". I didn't like how it felt).
When I get this in (should be somewhere in the first two weeks of November), I'll report back.
I've not had a chance to actually play with it yet, but I've held it in my hands after receiving it on Monday.
The buttons and D-pad all seem firm. It's not squishy or rubbery like I've seen other third party controllers.
The smaller form factor fits well in my hand. I can reach the face buttons and the right stick without needing to stretch.
The only thing that may be a negative, without having actually played a game with it, is that the joysticks seem to have a larger range of motion than other joysticks that I've played with. I seem to have to go up farther than I expect to be full up. That may make analog controls easier or harder, depending on the game (run vs. walk, etc.)
I plan on playing with it this weekend to see how it works in a real environment.
Sweet. If it works out fine, I may as well buy it and the official nintendo one. I'm still a wiiU noob so I haven't had the chance of trying out either.
Have you gotten to use it? I'm looking into Pro controllers as it seems more and more needed to fully experience the WiiU. The gamepad has annoyed me a bit with the control stick being above the buttons, is that the same with the Official Pro Controller?
The Nintendo Pro Controller has the right stick above the buttons as well. So if you don't like that arrangement, you won't like the Nintendo Pro Controller either.
This Nyko one has the right stick below the buttons, so you would probably like that placement better.
I like the controller. It feels better in my hand (since it's smaller) than the Nintendo Pro Controller. I can reach all of the buttons and right stick without any issues. Though I am used to having the right stick above the buttons, so when I want to reach for the stick, I'm finding myself searching for it a little. If I get more play time with it, I'll probably get more used to it, but in whole, I would recommend this controller to people who don't like the feel of the Pro Controller.
