    USB loaders freeze on startup

A while ago I got my Wii softmodded by someone else and it seemed to work fine. I was able to play Super Mario Galaxy from a USB stick using Configurable USB Loader, but when I tried adding another wbfs to the stick, the loader started freezing at the splash screen. I've also tried GX Loader to no avail. This is always happening now even after deleting all the wbfs files. I tried using ModMii to update everything but it won't update the IOS, says it can't load it into the memory, even though the wad is in the root of the USB stick. I've wasted too many hours on this and don't know where else to turn. I've just about given up.

Personally I have seen many users have problems trying to install wads from usb. Do you have a SD card to use?

As far as the freezing issue, what app are you using to load your games to the drive? What version # of CFG are you using? What format is your USB stick (i.e. wbfs, fat32, ntfs)?

    Thank you for your reply.

I may have an SD card lying around here somewhere, I'll try finding it.

I'm using Wii Backup Manager (worked fine for Super Mario Galaxy) and CFG Loader v70. The USB stick is FAT32.

if it's just "v70", it's very old. The latest version is v70r51, if you want to get it current. A link to it is in my signature.

When you find that SD card, post a syscheck here in this thread. A how-to guide is below in my sig.

I think it's already the latest one since I let ModMii do all the updates.

Anyway I deleted the "tetris" audio file from the loader folder and it seems to be working... for now.

If ModMii is so great, why are you here? It's a rhetorical question... it's not a bad program, but it (depending on user level) leaves something to be desired...

I wasn't saying ModMii was that great. Do you mean it's at fault that my Wii was freezing while trying to read the 'tetris' file? Anyway it's a non-issue now that I've deleted it. Thanks for your help.

Quite possibly; you'd need to do what post #5 tells you to do in order for that to be clear. Wads on USB stick don't help, either. You're having the same issue on two different loaders suggest something out of spec with the softmod or the configuration/setup/formatting of your USB stick (or a compatibility issue with it).
