Thread: Is my wii completely bricked?

Ca Is my wii completely bricked?

    Story:
Tripped over wire and wii gave some blurry cut off texts that said "corrupted files" and after trying to reboot, it just gave black screen of death no matter what I tried.

    Background story:
Bought the wii on launch day about 6-7 years ago and gave it to my parents so I'm not sure which version they have it on now. Read that the only way to fix it is to have bootmii, homebrew, NAND backup, etc which I don't have for sure. Also read that if I don't have any of those previously mentioned installed, my console is pretty much completely dead and only way is to pay up and get it fixed/replaced at Nintendo.

    Questions:
Is the only option I have to pay up and get it fixed? Also, this time I plan on installing homebrew and what not and was wondering if I can on any wii that I get replaced with or are there specific ones that I have to get for the homebrew to work?

Just for clarity: this Wii does have BootMii installed as boot2 then? That'd get you two quick blue LED flashes on the drive upon powering up. If so, look here. As to Nintendo, they'll refuse to repair it as it's been softmodded. They'll want more than to simply buy another one even if they did agree to do something.

Sorry maybe I should have clarified it more. I do not have bootmii nor have I ever softmodded the console. It's still original out of the box type.

OK. Can the Wii be turned on or off via wiimote (in other words, does the Wii respond to that button)? Mauifrog's gonna have to be the one to help you, if at all (being it's not ever been modded)...

The wii can be turned on via the wiimote but then the wiimote ain't registered so it can't turn the console off.

check the WiFi module , see if defective; or unseated , probably !

a defective/unseated wiFi module would end up black screen.
