Advice for someone only interested in region unlock for Wii and GC retail games?
Hello all! Was just wondering if anyone has advice for someone who doesn't care about backing up games, using a USB HDD, making disc copies, etc. All I want is to be able to import the PAL versions of certain Wii and Gamecube games to access the extra language options.
Can anyone lay out what the absolute simplest setup I'd need is? So far I've gone through the whole softmodding guide and have Priiloader setup for region free everything. I've also installed GeckoOS and am aware that the various USB loaders are region free and can force NTSC. Just waiting for my first PAL games to arrive from eBay to test it all out.
I guess my only concern is that I've read on various forums about people having issues with playing some version-mismatched games on their Wii's even with Priiloader, GeckoOS, etc. So rather than continuing to scour google for information that is mixed up and often quite old, I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone can give me the scoop: do I need anything other than what I already have to make sure I can play any PAL Wii & GC games on my NTSC machine without issue?
Please be more careful of where you post... your questions aren't Wii-U related. And we do have guides (you obviously found the Softmod ANY Wii one) for Gamecube stuff. Use that neat little search box in the upper right corner... DIOS MIOS.
Very sorry about posting in the wrong forum. Not sure how I ended up in Wii U. It's late and I must not have been paying attention. As for DIOS MIOS, I have read about it here and that seems to be for playing backed-up GC games, which is not what I want. I just want to make sure I haven't missed anything for playing PAL Wii & GC retail discs on my NTSC Wii and see if there's maybe a list of games that just don't work no matter what mod software you have.
Yes, the Temp keeps such a list. I do believe that may be linked in one of the DM guides (that you're not wanting to read for some reason). We don't support Gecko or at least historically we don't. You asked about GC, I answered. You're also aware of the backup loaders (some of which have GC support).
