Gamecube Audio Streaming Issue
Okay, so here's my problem:
When I play Starfox Adventures, during cutscenes, the BGM and voice acting does not play. It never did for my backup copy of the game, because it's part of the difference between DVD-R and the Nintendo proprietary DVD technology discs used for their games. However, now it won't work on my original copy. I don't even know if it's an issue due to modding or not (I haven't changed anything to have caused this), but I figured it's possible. Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem at all, and what they did to fix it.
I couldn't find any threads about this, so I hope I didn't miss one.
My Wii is version 4.1U, softmodded via the guide on this website. Also, prior to softmodding it, I hard modded it with DriveKey. When I noticed the issue, I booted up DriveKey and it was turned on, so I turned it off (since the softmods are basically handling all its functions anyway), and the issue persists. I'm using the built in Disc Channel, which has always worked fine.
Also, don't think this matters but my currently enabled System Menu hacks on PriiLoader are:
Replace Health Screen with Backmenu
Block Disc Updates
Block Online Updates
No System Menu Background Music
Move Disc Channel
I don't know if any other games have this issue, because Starfox is the only one I have that I've seen this sort of thing happen with the backup first.

Hmm, that's an odd occurrence. So neither the retail or burned discs will play the audio?
I have not experienced this issue with my retail discs or USB loaded backups (via Devolution). Would you be willing to try loading the game iso via USB using Devolution or Dios Mios to see if this still happens?
I considered it, but I don't have the time currently, and probably won't for the next 4-5 days (work). I read up on Dios Mios and learned that it removes the ability to play backups from disks, and I don't have an SD card bigger than 4 GB (it would get annoying to only be able to hold a few games at once) and my budget is pretty tight right now. But actually, with DriveKey I probably don't have to worry about that. Not sure though, because since soft modding, the Disc Channel loads the GC Backup Launcher, even on original copies, so I don't know if the cIOS would still override the hard mod or not. Eh, this is sounding like a lot of work :P I may get around to it on my next day off.
What do you think/know about the hard mod still working after the cIOS is changed via Dios Mios?
EDIT: After checking the compatibility list for Dios Mios, Starfox Adventures is listed as "has issues" and the notes report this exact thing. Currently reading up on Devolution.

Both Devolution and Dios Mios will load the games from USB. I would say between the 2 you're better off with Devolution. Since Devo is an app run from the SD card it does no harm to the systems NAND. I'm sure you'll find all the details you need with a little searching but if you want I have linked a guide for it in my signature and if you have any questions about it I'll do my best to answer
About the hard mod working with Dios Mios, I'm not sure. My system is not hard modded. I've seen a number of people saying it causes issues with DM and Devo but in most cases I have read about the users stated that disabling the mod chip solved the issues.

Yes I will give Devo a shot, it seems pretty great. I just asked this in the Devo guide thread but once vWii modding is further understood, would it be possible to have Devo run on the Wii U?

Sounds like it's possible that Devo can run on a Wii U vWii, but at this time, GameCube controllers are required to play the games, so there would be no way to control them. The developer wants to add Classic Controller support so you can play GameCube games on other controllers. When that happens, then it would be possible to play on a vWii.
But until that happens, all you'd be able to do is boot the game and enjoy the attract mode.
EDIT: I thought of this after finishing the message, but if the key generated from the game disk to enable devo to let you play the games is system dependant, then it still may not work if the system can't read the gamecube disks.
If the keys can be generated on your Wii and then copied over to the Wii U, then it may work.

I'm pretty sure the dvv verification files are not system dependent, only USB device dependent. So if you verify the games on one Wii they should work on any other Wii so long as you are just plugging in the same USB drive rather than copy/pasting.
I tried out Devo, but I'm having issues at the moment. I'm just going with the basic loader for now, but when I choose the game, the disk slot never blinks, it just returns to the HBC. I'm about to read through your tutorial thread to see what solutions others have posted.
EDIT: Turns out loader.bin was nowhere to be found on my SD card. However, it still does the same thing. When I ran Clean Rip it mentioned something about "please install IOS 58, disk dumping will be slow." Could that have something to do with it? I followed the guide on this site to mod my Wii. However, that was back in early 2010 so it's probably a little outdated. I guess I should basically follow the modding process again, huh?
EDIT 2: My modchip was still enabled, but disabling it didn't help. I'm not sure, but I was just using a flash drive to test. It is formatted correctly, but could that be the issue?

Yes, IOS 58 has USB 2.0 support and that's much newer than early 2010 (you need to update your softmod).
So what do you recommend? Just follow the softmod any wii guide? Or can I just use a WAD installer to install IOS 58?
EDIT: Found an IOS 58 installer. Installed it via HBC. Now it actually let me get to the point of verifying the game. However it's just sitting on a black screen now
