Bricked? I can use BootMii, and DopMii... MMM I'm stuck.
My nephew was over and for SOME reason, decided to do a system update.
I am on the 4.2u
During this update, It looks like either the system was turned off or the internet stopped being connected.
I now get a black screen. I tried to reinstall 4.2u with dopmii, but it seems to not be working?
I even purchased a used copy of new super mario bros wii to try to that. (connecting gamecube into 4th port and then holding down the d-pad at startup) I still get a black screen.
I just don't know what to do anymore..
@whoopoi: Did you have bootmii installed as boot2 or IOS only? Like when you power up the Wii, does the DVD drive LED flash once, or twice quickly? And regardless of that particular answer, did you make a NAND backup at any point prior?
When I turn on the Wii it flashes once before the bootmii screen comes up.
Unfortunately I forgot to make a NAND backup... so no
I'm confused (thanks for the answers thus far, though!) You get black screens which suggests NOTHING like fully bricked. But then you mention DOP-Mii (which should be avoided in an inexperienced user's hands) and that the BootMii screen is accessible. You might want to paint a more fuller image of exactly what's going on and what you do have access to (mauifrog will definitely need this type of info if nothing else).
I have access to BootMii and Dop-Mii
I have access to HBC as well..
At first it said that it could not load up the booting the system menu... I looked online and found DopMii. I got it to not boot into priiloader. I now get a black screen instead. I'm not fully sure which options I used in DopMii. I tried ios249, then ios36.. I didn't do much else...
I then bought a used copy of New SMB Wii to see if I could get it to restart and install the system menu, but black screen it is.
What all do you need?
if the system was turned off at the middle of updating (online or offline, either), the console will be bricked. .... the worst case is: u'll get black screen forever. missing the sys_IOS & sys_Menu is a fatal error.
if u still get BootMii screen coming up, u may like to migrate the wadmgr boot.dol to the sd card and get it running normally
then, reinstall the required IOS, cIOS and Sys_menu, SHOP-v21 accordingly.

Since you're saying you've retained access to HBC (Home Brew Channel), perform a SysCheck as outlined here in a reply to this thread.
I have access to the MMM (Multi Mod Manager)
Apologies I edited my post (HBC is what I meant, not BootMii; I removed the latter and changed to the former via edit). That's definitely not a full brick. No System Menu is pretty much where you're running intro trouble or?
with access to MMM, u're 100% ok to recover the console.
