    Newbie softmod help

I'm on version a virgin 3.4E Wii that has not been softmodded in anyway previously. If I update to 4.3E using the built in updater will it affect my console and not allow me to softmod?

Follow the latter-most guide and update (via guide!) to SM4.1; there's absolutely no benefit to 4.2/4.3, they're just homebrew killers.

You can officially update before hacking and it will still be safe afterwards, just follow the Softmod ANY Wii Guide in my signiture

Um, by following the guide? See the spoilers for Banner Bomb 3.0-4.1? That would be the method to enable the exploit to hack it. The wads (later in the guide) update your Wii to SM4.1; there's also a section about downloading (linked in guide) updated IOS for users with older System Menus prior to the Mod. You'd best download and install'em. Again, the guide has instruction on the order of things, and continuing in this thread rather than the guide is... counter-productive.
