Korean Wii - Softmod Questions
Here's the story of what happened...
I went to my friend's home today and he turned on his Wii. It was already softmodded and he told he bought it before some 2 years or something. He inserted some backup discs, and he loaded it through the disc channel! Is that even possible?!
I have no idea at all how he did that. I checked the Wii serial no. and saw that it started with LKM (Korean). I checked the system menu and it was 4.2U. I understand that it is a Korean Wii region changed to USA.
I asked him where he bought it from. He told he bought it from
Gypsy Store, located at Fountain Plaza in Chennai. He sells Korean Wiis region changed!
His Homebrew Channel is v1.0.6 runs on IOS 61 v21.29.He does not seen to have BootMii installed, but he has Priiloader (0.4 r78)
I borrowed his Wii so I could update the cIOSes safely and enable USB Loading for him. I can follow the Softmod ANY Wii guide, but I want to know whether any risks are involved, being this a Korean Wii and all.
Here is a sysCheck, please advise.

Is there any chance of bricking this Wii? It is a friend's Wii, so I have to be very careful with this.

Looks like he has DarkCorp or something similar, that's why backup discs load via the Disc Channel. I had it once but got rid of it. I USB load everything so it wasn't worth keeping.
I'm not completely sure so you should wait for a second opinion but I assume I'd be fine as long as you follow the instructions specific to the Korean Wii. The Softmod ANY Wii guide includes a section to change a Korean Wii's region.

So, I just searched for what DARKCORP is, and I found it pretty interesting. I also saw many people saying that it can easily brick your Wii, etc. etc. I think it's a pretty useful ability for most of those who use backup discs, considering the very very long loading times of Neogamma.
When I bought an out of region PAL Wii Sports Resort I tried to load it through Neogamma, but it took a long time to load. I just used USB Loader GX's mount CD feature to run it and then ripped it.
And, yes, I'll wait for someone else's advice. Some WiiHacks staff or a Senior Member.
So, I just tried the Softmod ANY Wii guide, and couldn't install most of the IOS because of this stupid useless DARKCORP. I saw the guide to remove, but I'm not sure whether I should progress or not. Please help!
I ran the HackMii installer with Bannerbomb v2, and what's strange is that the drive reads Backup discs but BootMii can be installed only as IOS!

Yes! Finally modded the Wii. Used Ithian's "Remove DARKCORP/cIOSCORP from any Wii Console" guide. It worked without any error. Then used Softmod ANY Wii guide perfectly. However, only 1 issue remains. HBC runs off IOS61 instead of IOS58. How do I fix this?
EDIT: Found it out, I just need to re-run the HackMii installer. Any mod, please close the thread!

Is the HBC version 1.1.0? Make sure the system has IOS58 and that is installed properly.

Yes, it's 1.1.0. However, I installed IOS58 after installing the HBC. Don't worry, I found it out. I edited the above post the same time as you posted yours (5:54 PM).
