USB loaded games freezing, believe drives are sleeping.
From what I've read, it looks as though some Seagate Freeagent drives like to sleep when they aren't actively being accessed.
I've tried playing a couple of games now, and they all work swimmingly until about 10 minutes into the game. I believe what's happening is the drive is going to sleep and the Wii is trying to access the image of the game after that happens. I've tried troubleshooting this, but all the links to Seagate's tools are broken, and it doesn't look like anyone has recently had this problem.
Now, me having bought this external drive isn't a total loss, as I can use it for other things, but if I can get it up and running without having to buy a new HDD, that would be excellent.
Assuming it's no longer possible to stop Freeagent drives from sleeping, could anyone recommend me USB hard drives that don't draw power from a separate adapter? If I have to buy a new drive, I'd like to spend about $50 and end up with a drive that has 500-750gb of storage.
*Also, as a side note, I remember reading somewhere that as of patch 4.3, Wiis can use SD cards that are up to 32gb in capacity. Is this true? Can the homebrew (and various emulators) channel use cards that big?
Have a look at this.-->FreeAgent Sleep Mode
Yes,Wii's from 4.0 and above can read up to 32GB Sd Card.

Reason: Fixed Spelling..
That is definitely the page I was looking for in terms of support, but it looks like neither of the Seagate drives I have have options for "Power Settings".
I'll look at them one more time, and maybe they just aren't compatible. :/
Are you personally able to recommend any drives, jax?
