System IOS70 deleted, 4.2U Black Screen, nand programmer suggestions?

First of all Id like to thank everyone here for all the great information, i have found this site to be very helpful. I was hoping to get some feedback on trying to help a friend out who bricked his wii. I got a call yesterday from my friend who says that he was using DOP-Mii to update his IOS files on his Wii running system menu 4.2. I softmodded his wii several years ago but he recently discovered these new apps and decided to play with them. He proceeded to use DOP-Mii to overwrite IOS70 v6687 with the STUB version (insert laugh here, i sure laughed at him). After reboot he got a black screen. His Wii is Bootmii / boot2 compatible but I never installed it because he didnt want me to.

From what I have read it seems like this can be unbricked by reprogramming the NAND chip and inserting bootmii. I have bootmii on my wii and have a NAND backup so I was hoping to use that to get the code i need to inject into his NAND chip. The only problem im running into is that the guide I found talks about using infectus 2 and that modchip is no longer available for purchase.

Is there something else I can use to flash the nand chip?

    Thank in advance!

Did you install priiloader on his Wii? Hold reset while powering on the Wii to get to priiloader. Then get to homebrew channel from there and reinstall a system menu with MMM or wad manager.

Don't try to restore his Wii with your nand and keys. It won't work and will probably make things worse.

EDIT - Another option may be Casper and cboot2 to launch MMM or wad manager. Then install the system menu wads. I have never tried this, but I have seen others talking about it.
