Hello, I used to be heavy gamer <_< I'm DazMic - actually Daz is mine, Mic is my wife. We played FFXI together w/ that name. We stopped play it long time ago.
I had softmodded my own wii about 3 years ago, I can't remember , LOL. I have updated everything on my wii up-to-date from this website, last update 4/2012. Keeping it 4.1U version. I rarely check this website cuz I don't check forum, wiihack.com, wiibrew.com very often. I have life. :P My Wii was purchased 2007. OLD, yea OLD but it still running great, no problem.
The reason I had to softmod. My daughter destroyed one of my Wii game Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, heavily scratched, I can't clean the scratch off. My wii cannot read it anymore. But at least I finished that game a year before she destroyed it LOL O_o. She was circling around the Wii disc 500+ times on wii case. (who counted?) (sigh she was little kid, huh, she had grown bigger now)
I have external HD but it was no good now. Unallocated, I couldn't fix it for 2 days and gave up on it and called WD Tech Support. It was WD 1TB My Book essentials. It was FAT32 at 1st right after I purchased (followed the FAT32 guide from this website also). Then started to split partitions w/ Fat32 and NTFS because I learned about some certain game (Xenoblade Chronicles, Metroid Other M) over 4GB split, some game freeze on certain point w/ Fat32. And the problem started corrupted my HD after I started to resize/move the partitions using EASEUS. T_T I called WD tech support. They said ONLY ONE PARTITION work on ext HD, if more than 2+ partitions on ext hard drive, it becomes corrupted, unallocated drive etc. Huh, was it true or false? Oh well, Its on warranty anyways. Gonna send it to WD technician wherever to fix it. Bought it, 3 weeks later, messed up. =\
Sorry I tried to search everything to fix it. EASEUS cant fix/recover it, other partitions managers couldn't fix it either, Also Disk Management (Windows 7 I am using) can't fix it either. Even I tried Data Recovery program, EMPTY data O_o.
Excuse me for my blabbing :P U asked for Intro <_< >_> <_< >_> So onto posting newbie post soon. -_-
and welcome to
Thank you for becoming a member of the best wii modding site around!
First off you need to read the Site rules and try your best to abide by them.
Also You need to realise that this site is here to help you make the most out of your Wii and not to help people with piracy!
Now we know the rules its time to find the right guide for modding your wii, I recommend the
The Softmod Any Wii Guide by Mauifrog
This guide works for all wii's
And Bluphant's noobs guide - Basic introduction to wii hacking
There are also other guides which you can find in the Guides and tutorials section
Once you have completed the guide you need to ascertain if your wii is capable of playing backups via the disc drive or whether you need to be usb loading.
Wii's post 2009 generally cannot play backups via the disc drive and have to use usb loading.
I recommend usb loading anyway as you can add an remove your games easily and there is no wear and tear on your disc drive and no messing about with discs etc.
What you will need to know -
