Wii disc update questions for 4.3
Hi everyone, I have a few newb questions which I would love if they are answered.
First of all, I have a black wii 4.3U bought from a shop. I have ONLY made a NAND backup. I have not installed any wad's, nothing. I just have the HBC and Bootmii.
So, if you get a new game disc for your wii (eg: super mario galaxy 2) and put it into your system, you get a disc update right? I wanted to ask, will it remove my bootmii? I know, I could have searched the forums, but the only thing I get is upgrading to 4.3 by a disc. I do not mean that, I mean just a normal disc update which lets you play your game. I couldn't care if it removed bootmii as I don't care for softmodding anymore. Anywho, I did the update with Super Mario Galaxy 2 and it did not remove homebrew, but did it remove bootmii? I have yet not checked as i'm scared it'll somehow brick my wii.
It would be greatly appreciated if someone could answer me. And please excuse my terminologies as I am not that thorough with softmodding even after I have read everything on this wonderful site.

I would just follow the "Mod any Wii" manual in the link below
After that, all will be fine and you won't have to deal with questions like the above. Your Wii will be perfect. Then get yourself a usb harddrive, use Wii Backup Manager, format the drive as fat32 using fat32format.exe
Enjoy your Wii ! And welcome to the modding community

Reason: stfu about that stupid "update" guide
Thanks for the reply! But, I don't really want to softmod my wii right now. I just really wanted to know if the dic updates could harm my wii. I don't really care now even if my softmod gets killed.
But another thing i'd like to know is, can I play my wii on the internet? I mean I just have bootmii right now. And could I go into the shop channel in my wii?
Thanks again for replying
Updating a Wii shouldn't result in a disaster, but your softmod will be affected. To get your softmod up and running, follow the softmod any Wii guide in my signature.
And a softmodded Wii can play online with no problems. If you need to update your shopping channel in the future, you can do it manually (by installing the wad) instead of updating your system menu. There's a guide for that here, I'll post up a link in a minute.
EDIT: The guide for updating the shopping channel can be found here:
Yeh, everything should be ok, as long as you DON'T upgrade your Wii OS, that is what Nintendo will ask you to do as soon as you connect your Wii to the internet (nothing to do with the game updates). Just be aware of that. If you do a proper complete softmod... your Wii basically will never be able to be killed by Nintendo because disk updates will be blocked, which is good.

You can use the Nintendo version of the Wii Shop Channel, but the manually installed wad is better, it will never ask for your Wii to be updated... which is good.
But I am already on 4.3 so i'm assuming that I wont have any future updates. And my wii was bought late 2011 so I think i'm up to date with all the updates.

You are on 4.3 and you have no desire/need for softmodding. Just use your wii as Nintendo designed it and be content. You have nothing to worry about.
