Thread: Question on Fat32 file system

    Question on Fat32 file system

I was about to order a USB thumb stick from amazon and mod my WII when I noticed a little omission in most of the guides. If the wii can only load fat 32 then that means it is limited to a 4gb file size. If that is the case then how is one supposed to load/store backups that are larger than 4gb? Or are they not one giant file?

The Wii doesnt just load fat32 it also loads NTFS. And no it is not limited to 4gb. Just use this guide http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...ide-fat32.html so that you can format your hard drive to fat32.

EDIT: Are you new here. If you are please introduce yourself.

but why would I want to format it to fat32 when I can use NTFS? None of this is really explained in the guides.

^^^ Fat32 can be used to load apps from the homebrew channel. For example if you have a ntfs drive, to load applications you would have to partition your hdd so that one would be ntfs and the other fat32.

BUt isnt much better to have 1 single partition on your hdd that can store your games and have apps?
Anyways its really up to you. So heres a guide for ntfs hdd http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...ing-redux.html
