Trivial Pursuit: Bet You Know It Freeze Issue

I'm using a softmodded 4.3 NTSC Wii with d2x v8b1(r41) installed. So far, I've been using USB Loader GX 2.3 and haven't had any problems running my backups from my external HDD. Recently, however, I've been trying to play Trivial Pursuit: Bet You Know It, and am having some issues. Let me explain: The game will freeze, every single time, after a player incorrectly answers two final questions (after a player gets all their pieces of pie they must answer a final question to win the game). If this doesn't occur, the game runs flawlessly and will never freeze. If the final answer is guessed correctly on the first try, or second try, the game won't freeze. But two wrong answers and it is guaranteed to freeze.

At first I thought it was just a bad dump, so I redumped the game -- same problem. So I figured maybe it was USB Loader GX and switched to CFG Loader v70, which also has the same problem. I've tried using different cIOS -- 222, 249, 250, but haven't had any luck. So my question is: does the game just have some compatibility issues or am I using the wrong IOS? Maybe something else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I just checked again, and I actually have d2x v9b1r47 installed, via a wad pack. Which includes:

EDIT2: Figured I should just post a syscheck.

EDIT 3: I've just noticed that the game actually freezes at this exact same point on my retail disc, so I'm at a loss as to what the issue might be. At this point, I think either the game itself is faulty, or there is some sort complication/compatibility problem with my Wii (softmod causing problems perhaps?). I'd be curious if anyone could reproduce this problem on their retail disc. I have been playing the game with 3 people, and it always freezes after a player incorrectly answers two final questions. Not always immediately after, but it's just a matter of time -- I've yet to see it make it past the third try, for example.
