Try a disc with a higher sm on it and update it.
Until yesterday I had not used my wii for about 3 months. It was working fine 3 months ago and it when I attempted to turn on, i couldn't get past the bootmii menu. With the SD card in, i got the bootmii menu, without the SD card, it was black screen only. I hadn't recently applied any updates, can't think of any games that may have updated, and really haven't touched it software-wise since I softmodded it 2 or 3 years ago. I began reading lots of the threads posted on here, and verified that I can turn it on/off with the bluetooth remote, so it isn't that, and after a while I decided to do the nand restore.
The nand restore "worked", and then I was able to get past the bootmii screen to the Health and Safety screen... and I was super happy until I found that I got no option to press A to continue. At that point it was back to the forums for more problem solving. I tried a few more things and found a thread where it instructed me to download a rar archive "3.1u_format" and use the included app to restore files. When trying to do that, the app launches, reads the file list off the SD card, and then just hangs at that point and doesn't do anything.
At this point I think my wii may have bad hardware, but from what I read, the nand formatting *might* help. Generation wise, mine is original and was purchased right at christmas time when they first came out, but since I already did the nand restore, i don't think that matters. I can't run any of the homebrew off of the sd card, nor can I get past the health and safety screen. I don't have a gamecube controller....

Alternatively you can start fresh w/ softmod any wii thread in my sig. Choose the other desperate measures boot2 option. Follow the whole thing, you'll be fine. You have bootmii installed as boot2, so you're utilizing your golden parachute.
I tried both the "cBoot2 + Wad Manager v1.5" and "other desperate measures, bootii option" and I got the error message, "failed to load ios". I also put in the most recent disc I have, mario party 9, and I didn't get a SM update... not that I'm sure if it would happen though...
When I did the cBoot2 + wad manager thing, I sort of randomly guess at what ios pack download and put in the WAD folder on the sd card. I picked System Menu 4.0U NTSC and the cooresponding IOS60. Not sure about that though
Consult the guide in my sig. Wad manager 1.5 isn't mentioned.
Sent from my DROID X2 using WiiHacks
Thats what I meant with the "other desperate measures" option. I tried that, I only got the same no ios found message.
I noticed that when I go to info, and restore my nand from its backup, most of the blocks are labeled as unprocessed. My nand usage is like 4%. After a restore it says 40 something %, but after a reboot, back to 3 or 4. Does that mean I need to reformat the nand?
Sounds like your nand backup or your nand may be corrupt. I have never used it, but maybe take a look HERE.
Just build a new nand.bin with ohneswanzenegger, then restore it with bootmii
-make a new nand backup with bootmii
-format the nand.bin with ohneswanzenegger
-Install system menu of your choice 4.1u/e/j
-check the new nand.bin with nandbincheck, make sure it looks good without errors
-restore the new nand.bin with bootmii
-now your wii should be like new.
