What do you mean the controller (the wii remote?) goes dead when you enter the drivekey config menu? Are you trying to use it in the config menu? Config menu settings are made by pressing the reset...
I thought that people could still run HomeBrew as long as it was installed before updating to 4.0. Just to play devil's advocate, updating to 4.0 also gives you the improved sd card capabilities....
