I have the 8gb installed in my wii and updated to 4.3u. No probs yet. Maybe D2Sun will have a solution soon.
I would suggest moving on to a chip company that has always had support for their products. d2sun products, (sunkey) released a programmer at the same time they released all the ribbon style chips....
I would have to say between these 2, the wasabi would be the better chip just for the support from the devs.
I think that's what they are trying to sell, not so much to the average consumer but for an installer or distributor. It does look like a sunkey lite, but it replaces the need to have 3 different...
Sunkey lite v1.3
Nice, neat antistatic packaging.
Good quality feeling chip. Dip switches felt a bit cheesy, but usually only ever use them once.
Very easy installation, the ribbon is the...
Perhaps d2sun can shed some light on this place.
The only way that I can tell is to look at the chip itself. It has a sticker on the back side of the chip that should have a Q.C. Passed and a V1.???. or if it has the mushroom sticker on the top of...
I would love to test one of these chips out in all modes. I have a release wii. Im sure these chips are great as are all the D2Sun chips I have used.
That would be cool. This is by far my favourite chip that I have installed and used.
I would like to test one of these out. It may even replace my Sundisk 8gb.
You will definately need a programmer. No other way to update, but these guys are very quick to put out updates and lots of support for their products.
No wii has been bricked with a chip only mod. Yes you will have to update the wii to play newer games. Do updates from disc and you will be fine.
Not sure what chip you are using, but MAKE SURE you...
I have one in my wii and it's great. Can rip games from the disc to the memory on the chip and play without disc. You can also dump the ISO to your computer and burn a backup. For myself, it was...
You can softmod with a chip.
They are supposed to be working on an update and a programmer.
I would either softmod or look into buying a different brand of chip that already has updates as well as...
I'm not convinced. A lack of support for older firmware chips has me buying sunkey brand chips. Promises of DVD updates and jtag updates for a programmer that was never built is very disappointing...
You may want to find out just in case you have a chip that is updatable. And so that you can go to the proper section of the modchip forums to find answers to some problems that may or may not come...
Oops. Sorry, didn't see the original part of your post. That seems very strange. When you put the original game in did it prompt for an update?
I haven't tried an original with a chip installed. ...
Their website doesn't even say it will happen in Jan. I think it's hopefull thinking for a lot of people including myself.
I switched to sunkey chips. They already have a programmer and support for...
NSMB will not work yet with the original versions of drivekey. If it doesn't have a yellow sticker on the back of the chip, you will have to wait for the to release the programmer with the update....
Download IMGburn. The drive in your computer won't recognize the disc, but IMGburn will allow you to create an IMG of the disks.
Unless you have a drivekey, there isn't really a way to know what...
You have a great Wii for hardmodding. Pretty much every chip out there will work on it. You could get someone to solder in a chip so that the games will run at 6x instead of with a ribbon chip that...
If your Wii is updated to 4.2, the only option to play out of region games is to softmod. Although all chips only advertise to play 80-90% of game out of region. No chip will play absolutely every...
You can safely update to 4.1 without losing the ability to play out of region games. Only update from the new super mario bros disc. If you update from the shop channel you will be on 4.2 and you...
Depending on how new your Wii is, the chip will work fine on 4.2 with backups. You can still download songs, you can still play online (even with backups).
The only prob with 4.2 is that you can...
Most people want to put a game in and play it. That is why someone would use a modchip. I have modded a lot of Wii's with chips and not one of them is currently using any type of soft mod. Some...
