I have the same problem but it is original disk with d2pro also softmod for HBC. The game picks up in disk channel, go to play but black screen and I have to hold power button to resart the wii.

I installed cios38 rev 13 and it works so like you said d2pro needs to update firmware. i appriciate the help.
