Go to BestBuy and get yourself some Verbatim DVD-R disks. Sure they are more expensive than most others but here's the thing....THEY WORK!...

Circular file that damn clip and solder it in right. There are pros like myself and spiktsu to send it to if you don't want to try it yourself.
Remember, a Wii is 250 bucks...
I think you should be ok. Just shorten your wires, only strip about 1/16th on an inch of insulation off, make sure no bare wires are touching an other components and see what happens.
