In game settings change video to disc default from system default

I've just modded a system for a friend, nothing new, follow the guides and all is good.
BUT, usbloaderGX.wad is rev 850 and just dance 2 fails (big file)...

This is what I did - some steps maybe omitted !!

Follow these steps and someone else please confirm

1. Power off the Wii (mains)
2. Power on from Mote
3. Press A to sync
4. Start a game...

Never had a verbatim fail, maybe it's a drive/disk thing
