I am able to still play backups off of the usb hard drive. But the disc loader channel just gives me unable to read disc no matter if its a backup or a real game. I will open it up sometime this...
I actually agree with both NSDCars5 and BluPhant. Disc loading stinks, and is a far inferior way of playing backups.
But... I have old inlaws that refuse to use anything but a disc to load...
I'm in!
Thanks to everyone for keeping the site alive and kicking! So much info, so many good people!
Just wanted to say thanks, this is definitely one of the must have guides on the site, and would recommend to anyone!
Thanks for the heads up, much appreciated!
doing Tech refresh for multiple companies over the last 5 years, seagates used to be the be all end all. But they have lost ground in the last few years, we are seeing a very high fail rate on...
Glad to see the twitter account up! Excellent idea, makes it easier to keep up on all things WiiHacks!
Is there really anyone that has a modchip that doesn't do both?
I have seriously lost track of why my backups are even working. Whether its the modchip doing the work or a softmod. All I know is...
If you are here, then give it a try. There is LOTS of help out there. But don't just throw your hands up in the air without giving it a go first!
Welcome and enjoy your stay =)
Here we go again!.. But this one seems really out to get the homebrewers...
I realize preloader can brick your wii... but so can everything else that you are doing in this tutorial. Just get your nand backed up and keep it safe.
To get better compatibility for disks running from your disk channel you will need to load Ios 38, 53, 55 http://www.wiihacks.com/homebrew-downloads/7417-ios-38-53-55-a.html
The best is a combination of both. It will make the most of your wii. Hard mod really gives you the freedom to try anything.
Definitely do not just go and update it!!! Just because you have a chip doesn't mean you are immune. I would still recommend you backdoor updating to get all the features of 4.1. There are LOTS of...
Also make sure that when you are tightening things back up to don't make them TOO tight, just snug. It can mess things up as well.
You can navigate through the bootmii menu by plugging in a gamecube controller or by using the power, reset and eject button on the front of your wii.
Just re-verified this Tutorial this weekend. As per all these comments above, they should really be added to the tutorial. But in essence everything does install fine.
Can't wait to see what this chip has in store!
AceKards are the best, super fast and super reliable!
(Thanks!)
LOL, Kudos to you for taking the chance!
Hopefully the menu design improves thing a little. Definately one of my biggest gripes of the last release.
Looks pretty slick!
Have you tried using a different SD card or USB source yet?
I'll have to see if this is better than the Geexbox i have running for my parents. I haven't had much trouble with that one, so we'll see if this is an improvement.
