Copied from thread I posted on Modchip section:

Help updating Wii to play newer games and from USB source
I was looking at thisTHREAD and wondering what if anything I could take from there and apply to my Wii. I have a hardmodded Wii (Wasabi chip).

Any help, directions, or tutorials would be much appreciated. Very informative site, thanks to all.

    [Edit]

I already have the HomeBrew Channel installed, but it's been a while since I've used it or updated it. My Wii is currently running 4.0U. Mainly looking to run newer games off USB thumbdrive or HD if possilbe.
Most of the info looks like it's for SoftMods, can someone point me in the right direction as to where to start with a HardMod?

    Thanks again

Tough luck. This is still Piracy and we do not support it here. As far as Nintendo is concerned, you only purchased a temporary license to play the game, you didn't purchase the game itself. Sony and MS pretty much have the same policy.

To play backups from usb you need a working cios which you can achieve from this guide. Just go from the section where its states if you have hb installed already.

Are modchips useless to a Wii made after a certain date. I got my Wii in December of 2010 and thinking about getting a chip put in so I can play GC backups, but I don't want to do it if it is going to be a waste of money.

Also I need to make a NAND backup, but everytime I run Bootmii it goes straight to the multi mod manager. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    please help guys,

im having a few issues with my Wii since follwoing this guide to update from 3.2e to 4.1e ,everything went very well (congrats on an excellent guide by the way) however, i am having a few issues with it since doing this. i use USB loader GX and CFG Loader but on both i have the same problem.

the first issue (not so serious) when i exit from a game using any other ios than 249 the Wii hangs at a black screen and i have to power it off and on again (if i choose reset all is good)
the second issue is a little more serious, when i play a game that requires a nunchuck throughout the game it keeps disconnecting and saying connect a nunchuck, i unplug it and plug it back in and it continues (its a cable nunchuck not wireless in case you need to know)

I have 2 nunchucks both a couple of years old, and 4 wiimotes not matter which combination i use same thing, works fine on some games but others really bad.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    louie189,
    1. Please see the README-CFG.txt for more help and info. (source: gbatemp.net)
    2. nunchuk cable, or connector, may be defective inside (i.e. poor contact, intermittent)

It seems, that there's a reply missing that was meant for me...

It seems that HackMii andBootmii go together? Is it possible to install Bootmii with a hardmod? It looks like I'll need one to backup my NAND or is that not possible with a hardmod? If so, is there a guide for that, or just use the directions in this thread? So basically, can I start doing the modding from "Chapter 2" on without fear of bricking if followed correctly or is there something else I should be aware of?

    Thanks

    [EDIT]
Reply is there, it seems that login had timed out, and even though I refreshed, it wouldn't show new posts.
