Also, if you downgrade you'll have region free back. Tha's only for hardmods tho.

    What does modpack do?

I saw that I should start the guide over if I used a different one before. I used a usbloader on 4.2u and had HBC and Bootmii as boot2 installed. However, I just updated to 4.3u last night. I have no intentions of changing my region. All I want to do is get any USB Loader to work. (I'm also open to installing Priiloaders if neccessary)

This brings me to my next question: since I don't need to start all over again, do I still need this "modpack" thing, or can I just install a certain thing and begin reusing my USBLoader of choice?

Sorry in advance if I failed to read any part that answers this, be it in guides, posts, etc.

You would be best served to run the entire guide. If you want to pick and choose what you update you can, but I recommend NOT doing that. If you had priiloader installed to begin with, you would not be having to do this would you?

I didn't start the entire guide over, since I already softmodded, I just picked up where I needed to (Chapter 2) and continued from there.
LU34 wii, running on 4.3u, bootmii installed on boot2 and priiloader.

Thanks, skellinator. However, I have another set of issues in Chapter 2.
    1. Does chapter 2 downgrade my wii to to 4.1?
    2. Is there any way possible to be able to update any aspect of my wii from nintendo if I continue? If not, does any guide allow me to keep at 4.3u and update anything from Nintendo freely?
    (i.e. SM or channel(s))
    Thanks

You can't update a softmod via Nintendo, it will kill your cios and possibly HBC, posibly remove most exploits. You can update what you need via wad install or similar homebrew method
    Ipsa scientia potestas est.

Warning: Piracy is NOT supported. Word your questions carefully.

Okay, thanks. I updated with a softmod last time, and according to CFG USBLoader, IOS 249 is a stub.(Only noticeable changge, other than USBLoader GX not working anymore) However, I'm just going to continue this guide in its entirety once someone says that this doesn't downgrade my wii to 4.1 (If it is the only way to do this, I suppose I'll do it, since I can block any updates with the "priiloader" thing. My parents may get me a new game sometime that's actually on disc, and I don't want a 50 year old man bricking my wii.)

Well the 4.1 downgrade is optional so its your choice.

If 249 is stubbed then I would complete the whole guide and you will be good to go.

Hi guys. I got a few questions for you.

I've softmodded my girlfriend's Wii. It,s now 4.1U, and I'd like to do a little update for her by installing 4.3U and also, make an update of the USB Loader which freezes the games sometimes.

Using this guide (I used it the first time I softmodded her Wii)... where do I have to start to:

    1. Do the 4.3U update
    2. "Upgrade" her USB Loader app.
    3. Which Bannerbomb should I use? V1? V2?

I'd also like to know if the console langage have any influence on the whole process. (She would like to have the Wii set in French (I'm french Canadian so... )

Thanks a lot for your replies!

No point in installing 4.3. You can install the latest ios that came with 4.3 that are included in the ios pack
