If you mean what do I need to do to run backups of my originally purchased games then you need to follow this guide.

If you want to watch movie dvd's then use wiimc after following this guide.

But if you have the new drive chipset in your wii then your drive will not play backups and your option is a usb hdd. How old is your wii?

ver 3.4E. I bought a WD My Book Essential 1Tb HDD but i wanted to try reading from disks too. I heard NeoGamma would be the best choice, the only problem is that I, the noob that I am, can't find it. I only saw a r9 or something like that and I did not know if that is a good version (as I heard in this forum, never try a beta)

Well use this guide it install neo gamma for you. There is also a app pack which you need to d/l and out on your sd card to complete the mod. This includes the apps wiimc and cfg etc..

When you d/l wad pack it is a wad included in that. When you do the guide it will be installed. Dont worry about where it is because I can assure you it is there. Just follow the whole guide from top to bottom.

    Hi all,

Brand new to this site and just looking for some advice. I have a Wii that I've already installed Homebrew on and gotten WiiMC working.

I installed that by using the instructions here: over at wiibrew dot org. and using Super Smash Brothers.
It shows IOS58 in the Homebrew menu.

I want to go to the next level and be able to back up my games to my external hard drive and then play them from there. Since I got Homebrew installed on my own, I don't think I have all the same programs listed at the beginning of this tutorial so I'm not sure where to go next.

Do I need to go back to the Chapert 2 part in the OP and put more apps on my SD card? Or since Homebrew is already working, can I just go right for the steps on how to play from a backup?

I know that WiiMC requires IOS58 but I always see others saying they require other versions so I'm just not sure where to go next.

Any help or direction would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

Start from the spoiler in THIS guide at "Softmods with HOMEBREW CHANNEL installed"

and after you finish this guide from there to finish skipping nothing , then you can follow the Faat32 guide in my signature for your hdd.

Did I come off like a jerk?? Read more here
