I can't tell you what to do, but if the wii is black screen dead, there is nothing Nintendo can do to fix it, or see what is on it.

Actually I take that back, they could inject an Nintendo version of bootmii into your wii, but they would never do that.

Just wanted to say thanks to Mauifrog for this great guide and everyone's help. I've got my Wii running smoothly and I feel like I now have a decent understanding of how this all works.

I probably figure out what is wrong ... BTW did what suggested but same behavior.
I just realized the DVD drive is dead or not responding. I tried to put few dvd (Wii games and not) but nothing. No blue light or no drive noise ...nothing.
Even when I turn on the console I see just one flash of blue light and then nothing .. no mechanical/drive noise.
I guess this is why I can't load any game ... it sounds like even though I'm loading games from the USB the Wii is still waiting for something from the drive ... not getting it cause the error message "error..eject disk .. power off ..".

Could such a "drive" problem be caused by wrong/missing IOS/CIOS or it's simply a hardware failure?
In other words can I recover it with additional .wad or programs or I need to by a new DVD drive?
Thanks in advance for the support

If something was missing in iOS 36, that probably means that all the wads did not install, possibly even cios60 which would cause this brick

A bad DVD drive will prevent loading from USB, and disc. It wil also cause issue with many channels. It should spin up when you turn the wii on.

Hi there! Thanks a lot for your guide.

I have a problem with Smash Stack. SSBB won't recognise the hacked stage. I am using a Kingston 2GB SD and I have re-formatted it several times in different formats to get it work, but with no result. I have also used the tool you suggested to format the card. The SD worked just fine when I wanted to copy original stages of SSBB.

Maybe it is a compatibility issue with Smash Stack after all. Any ideas?
(I have also now a 4GB Trancend SD and a 64MB Motorola micro SD; I will try to use them, but i am afraid they won't work)
