Yes this downgrade process is perfectly safe and you are fine to follow it. No, you don't have to downgrade if you don't want.
    Damn I suck!!!!

Ok. So I left the sd card out of the wii and turned it on, then booted up home brew and thin inserted the sd card to get to the priiloader instead. I had the same problem where no button responses work at this screen. Im thinking of reformatting the card and starting this stage over, but without reinstalling the wads since they installed fine. Thoughts?

One other thing, ios38 53 55 are no longer installed with this guide. You must have an outdated pack.

I think that the only reason left for failure is that I might have an outdated version. I'm going to try re-DLing.

I actually banner-bricked my Wii trying to update IOS56 since it is used by SMG2, which kept randomly freezing.

AFAIK, your the first with wiimote issues with priiloader. When that priiloader loads from HBC, what ios is displayed in the upper left? IOS58? What happens when your turning the wii on with the sd-card in? MMM loads?

So when I boot up with the sd card in it does go straight into MMM. When I boot up priiloader from having the sd card in the entire time the Ios is IOS 236 rev 54321 and when I boot it up from the HBC it is IOS 58 rev 6175. Now that I think about it, I may have installed with the card in from boot up and not through letting it load to wii menu then going to HBC to bootmii, I didnt know they gave me different things.

EDIT: I just went to HBC then to bootmii and then to priiloader and it gives me the same IOS as the first one, but not the same as if I went to priiloader from HBC

And both give you no wiimote support. Boot the wii with the sd-card in the wii, MMM loads. Select load another ios, then load ios57. Then load priiloader, see if that helps. Install with B +/A if it does.

    Cool

    Itlookslikethiswiijustgothacked.avi

Two final things; is it safe to remove all the IOSes, and what files do I remove to stop MMM from autobooting?

EDIT: Also, is it safe to update now? Let's consider the update to the 4.3 update.

Thanks for your help mauifrog it is really appreciated.
    Mauifrog,
Thank you again for all your help over the last few days. USB drive up and running! NSMB and SMG2 working like a charm.

I do have 1 more question for you. Ove the course of my playing around to make this work, when I turn on my WII it loads to a BootMii screen where I can select WII, HBC, SD card, NAND backup, etc...
How do I return it so it will not do that and just start as normal? I am afraid my amazingly curious 7 year old will start poking where he doesn't belong...

First let me say thanks to tc for the simple guide, everything has worked perfectly. Hopefully i can explain this clearly lol.

Now my question is i have dled a couple of apps from the homebrew browser and the apps now appear on the homebrew channel loader; is it possible to have such apps as my wii channels. Along with such as internet channel, photo channel, wii shop channel, ect?

    Thx again...

    *help?
