So, this appears to be a glitch if you DO NOT downgrade your 4.3u System Menu even though that is listed as Optional.

Downgrading to 4.1 and reinstalling priiloader resolved it, but it should probably not be listed as optional for 4.3 if it is going to cause a freeze exiting from HBC.

Everything is basically the same as my 4.1u setup

Everything works fine except Exiting from Homebrew Channel to System menu black screen freezes. No dump or messages of any form. Selecting Turn off from the HBC "Home" menu and then powering up from the WiiMote works fine so it is usable, just weird.

Other "normal" channels return to the system menu just fine.

PriiLoader is set to Startup and Return to System menu.

I am stumped. This was the first 4.3 I have done, but followed all the steps and downloaded the correct HackMii zip and made sure all the WADs installed correctly...

Also searched and found next to nothing on HBC freezing other than at launch.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance.

    first time modder

I was first turned on to modding the Wii by a friend, so I googled and found several postings. But I was still hesitant. The I found your guide. It appears to be the most straight forward and easiest to understand for a noob.
I just have a few questions before I attempt it.
You refer to NAND space or blocks. What is this? Is it the Wii memory and how do I make sure I have enough?
Also in part2 it states to prepare the sd card. Is this another format? This is prior to backing up the files.
My Wii is the red one I bought in Dec. 2010. It was updated to 4.3u, before I knew updating was a bad thing
I cant't wait to try this out
    Many thanks to you

    Start here:
    Introduce Yourself

Also be aware, 4.3 will require one of several retail games to be on hand to softmod. You won't be able to play backups via optical (DVD), you'll have to go USB HD. NAND space or blocks is essentially memory, yes. In settings/Data Mgtmt it should tell you available blocks (isn't this in the guide?) Prepare the SD card relates to whichever method you may choose to employ (guide gives you several options).

NAND Is basically Nintendos bersion of flash memory to operate the wii (the brain)
Also in part2 it states to prepare the sd card. Is this another format?
basically get ready if step 1 fails, then you have to do the optional step "do this"

The Red Wii's are already 4.3. Follow this guide to a "T" and you should be fine. good luck bud

Also.. Intro yourself like nightstah said..

Wonder if it is 4.3u specific or if something just did not take correctly the first time? Did not touch the HBC install though. Just downloaded the 4.1 Sysmenu on-line and noticed Priiloader was gone so reinstalled it and it was fixed.

they might have a corrupted HBC. no idea how but its possible between downloading and installing the channel. I had 4.3 and it worked just fine.. I downgraded to 4.1 later.

@ AWD_Guy (who is probably a Subaru driver) Its better to be on 4.1 anyhow. It says optional because you dont have to but 4.1 is the ideal FW to be on. 4.2 and 4.3 were created to specifically to kill homebrew and softmods.

    Hey there everyone,

this is all new to me so i have been looking
at The 4.3 Softmod Guide by mauifrog and i have a few questions.

    1) My Wii is already version 4.3 (do i need to give you my serial n°?) and it is black, i take it that the colour of the Wii has no influence on the softmod?
    2) Do i have to have a internet connection to my Wii while i softmod my Wii?
    3) He says that you need one of 3 games to do the softmod
Indiana Jones Original Adventures (Lego?), Super Smash Bros Brawl or Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. But i have been told that i should use Lego´s Batman to softmod my Wii. Can i use Lego Batman or do i have to use one of the other 3?
    4) Once i softmod my Wii, will i still be able to play via the internet

    Cheers,
    B@ne
