    Virgin Wii Won't Install Homebrew

    Hey Guys,

I really hope someone can help me. I followed this guide many times and have successfully modded at least 10 Wii's, but I have a problem I've never seen before. When I try to load the HBC, I get the "There is no useable or vulnerable IOS installed on this Wii" error.

I checked the link in the guide on what to do if that happens and followed every instruction with the same result. I tried loading IOS 58 & 61. I even tried some of the older methods using DOP-Mii. No matter what I do, I always get that error when installing HBC.

It is a vigin Wii that's never been modded running 4.1. Also, I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but it's one of the first model Wii's purchased when it was first released.

    Could anyone help?

True, in my haste to reply I misstated --- you do need both. You still have yet to answer the question as to actual file extraction from the archives (you do realize that's an archive - ie, packed files - right?) as in did you extract said files from said archives?

OK, after poking around all day I came up with a solution.

I had to use a small USB stick and then use WiiBackupManager to format it as WBFS and then transfer the ISO to the USB stick. I then opened Disk Backup Channel (a redirector to NeoGamma) and was able to mount the USB share as a WBFS drive and run the Nintendo Backup Disc v1.31. It was then easy to restore the two savegame exploit files.

What I'd like to understand better is WHY did I have to run the Nintendo Backup Disc v1.31 from a WBFS drive? Why didn't it work like every other game has that I've tried - directly from CFGUSBLoader and my FAT32 USB HDD? Does anybody know or is this just one of those "that's the way it works with some discs/games"?

If it's the latter, then the guide should be amended to note that you cannot load the Nintendo Backup Disc v1.31 from a FAT-formatted drive. I blew a ton of time and frustration trying to figure it out as the guide certainly seemed to indicate that it *should* work without error. If it's something else then I'd like to understand better what was going on...

    Thanks in advance

    MG

That is the only way I have gotten it to work. I think it is the loader, not fat32.
The disc loads well with neogamma r8 running cios38-r17 via disc or wbfs usb.

I want my wii to boot directly to the USB loader instead of the homescreen. I read all the instructions and have tons of games backed up on my external hard drive and everything works fine. At the end of the instructions it says I can change it in the priloader options but since I didn't do it initially and I believe I no longer have priiloader on my sd card (since it said to format it again) I can't find out how. Is there another option or do I simply have to put the priloader file back onto my sd card? Thanks for the help, hope this isn't a dumb question. And yes I know it tells you in the instructions but I still can't figure it out. How do I install the forwarder, through bootmii? And if so, when I try to load bootmii through homebrew it freezes at a black screen :/

Also, when I sort the games I have loaded alphabetically, every time I restart my wii it goes back to a random order. Is there a way to keep them alphabetized? And does anyone else have a problem with the "remove game" function in configurable usb loader not working? It just doesn't do anything when I press it. I have a game that won't load for what ever reason and to delete it I had to hook the hard drive up to my computer and remove it that way.

Also also (sorry figured Id get it all in on one post) is there a reason why my Wii Sports Resort back up wouldn't work, (it kept putting me back at the wii system menu when i tried to load it) but then after I inserted the actually disc and ran it once, it now suddenly works through the USB loader. Just thought it was odd and wasn't sure if there was a reason.

Just hold reset and boot the wii, priiloader will load. Then install the usbloader forwarder into priiloader and set the autoboot to the installed file.

Part 2- Install The HomeBrew Channel and Bootmii
Read the Scam warning and press 1
It may take a minute or two for the "press 1" to appear- be patient
    Install the HomeBrew Channel
Install Bootmii as Boot2(boot2 may not be available, IOS installs automatically)
    Prepare the SD-card
If Step1 fails with error "no vulnerable ios", DO THIS

Where is the link to install the Homebrew channel? Why do I keep getting the 004 error? I amd doing the lego indiana jones one with my kids, we spent an hour and are getting nowhere. help.
