I have recently upgraded my wii from 3.1 to 4.1 successfully. Should I update to 4.3U? I was told by a friend that I will not be able to play some games unless I update to 4.3.
FYI I have another wii that is 4.3 and I am having issues with that one,but I will follow your tutorial to properly fix it. As of now I put in the sd card from the 4.1 system and it works fine.
Thank you Mauifrog! Just bought a new red 4.3u wii, followed the instructions, rented indiana jones from my local library and everything went off without a hitch! Great work!
I've just noticed ,after running a system check awhile ago, that just 2 of my IOSes have the "ES Identify" thing and a few of my IOSes are stubs. Is everything ok?

I want my wii to boot directly to the USB loader instead of the homescreen. I read all the instructions and have tons of games backed up on my external hard drive and everything works fine. At the end of the instructions it says I can change it in the priloader options but since I didn't do it initially and I believe I no longer have priiloader on my sd card (since it said to format it again) I can't find out how. Is there another option or do I simply have to put the priloader file back onto my sd card? Thanks for the help, hope this isn't a dumb question.
Also, when I sort the games I have loaded alphabetically, every time I restart my wii it goes back to a random order. Is there a way to keep them alphabetized? And does anyone else have a problem with the "remove game" function in configurable usb loader not working? It just doesn't do anything when I press it. I have a game that won't load for what ever reason and to delete it I had to hook the hard drive up to my computer and remove it that way.
Also also (sorry figured Id get it all in on one post) is there a reason why my Wii Sports Resort back up wouldn't work, (it kept putting me back at the wii system menu when i tried to load it) but then after I inserted the actually disc and ran it once, it now suddenly works through the USB loader. Just thought it was odd and wasn't sure if there was a reason...

I've run through the guide, Guide: Softmod ANY wii, and while everything mostly worked I'm having trouble at the very end of Chapter 3: Optional extra brick protection. I've tried to lay out exactly what I've done (and not done) and why to remove any confusion ... so it's a little verbose but I HTH. Here's where I'm at:
1. Everything is now running off my extUSB HDD (I moved the files from my SD to my USB HDD)
2. I'm only using the apps (so far) that MauiFrog listed out in the installer
3. I can load and launch Configurable USB Loader w/o issue and have used it to back a number of games and I've played through them all w/o issue
4. I followed the guide exactly as written including, under Chapter 2, not installing the UpdatePack.zip (4.2/4.3+ wiis can skip UpdatePack.zip). My Wii is an older Wii, but it was already updated to 4.2U
5. Also under Chapter 2, Part 2 - I did downgrade to 4.1U (that's what my Wii system menu now shows)
6. I now want the "Optional extra brick protection" as listed at the end of Chapter 3 ... can't be too careful right?!?
6.a. I downloaded both the Indiana PWNS & YU-GI-VAH savegame exploit HACK rbk files, unzipped them, and copied them to my USB HDD.
6.b. I downloaded the Nintendo Backup disc
6.c. I used WiiBackupManager.exe to copy the ISO over to my ext USB HDD (I tried a few other game ISO's the same way and they all work flawlessly)
6.d. I turn on the Wii and the softmod(s) all load and I'm into my default Wii System Menu
6.e. I navigate to the Configurable USB Loader channel (installed while going through the guide) and try to launch the Nintendo Backup Disk v1.31 and I get nothing but a black, hung screen
1. I can't get the Nintendo Backup Disk to launch so I can install the two save game exploit hacks.
1.a. I've tried launching the Backup Disk with every cIOS option available in CFGUSBLoader - 250 (default), 249, 248, 247, etc... and they either error out or give me the exact same result - a black, hung screen the requires a power off/on.
2. I don't have any DVD-R's (have a ton of DVD+R's) to try the burned disc method. I obviously can order some, wait a week, and then try a burned disc - but I'm hopeful I can load the Nintendo Backup Disk directly from USB (or even SD?).
1. From 6.a. above: The guide says to extract the files to SD, but that's still assuming everything's running off SD - no issue doing the same off USB correct?
2. Can I use the SaveGame Manager GX app I installed from the AnyWii-AppPack.zip in Chapter 3 to install the save game exploits?
3. Can I use the Backup Disk Channel, installed when following the guide, to launch the Nintendo Backup Disk v1.31 from USB?
3.a. - Yes, I get it that it's for physical discs, but after you launch the app and get the "Disc Read Error" message, there's another menu that allows you to mount from xxx. Default is set to DVD but there's a SD and USB option. I tried the USB option but it didn't work and I'm guessing it's b/c I have my USB HDD formatted w/ FAT32 and not WBFS - correct?
4. Should the disc load from cIOS250-v20? If no, what other cIOS should I be using?
Is there anyone that knows about ""ES_Identify failed, error 4294966279, ios58 not patched with ES_DIVerify? using cios (holdin b and then pressing + or -) will probably solve this." message??? Please??
Check out the very bottom of Chapter 2:
"If you want to autoboot USBLOADER, install USBLoaderCFG_Forwarder.dol"
The file is in the root of the ModPack zip you downloaded. If you install that, it should autoboot directly to the USBLoaderCFG app.
Ok and to install it do I do it through bootmii? Because when I click bootmii through the homebrew channel it just freezes at a black screen.
Finally I completed the 4.3 softmod...
